ANGELINA JOLIE To Star in Sleeping Beauty Story MALEFICENT

Angelina Jolie hasn’t had an acting role in two year, but now she is looking the lead role in Maleficent.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jolie talked at Berlin International Film Festival saying “The next thing I am looking at is a Disney movie.” She’s been looking at the role for a while now and will put other potential projects aside to do it.

While she has been directing and talking about her debut film In the Land of Blood and Honey, she has also been working on a deal for what she will act in next. In addition to the Maleficent role, she was also looking at a part in a Luc Besson project that would start production in April. She said she couldn’t do both since Maleficent would most likely start by the end of the year.

Maleficent recently had Robert Stromberg brought on to direct. In the past he’s been a production designer on films like Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, and the upcoming Disney project Oz the Great and Powerful.

“The best thing to find that balance is to do something that is just for children,” Jolie said Saturday. “You know, you find different ways to make things matter. When, for example, you do fun action movies, they are empowering for my daughters.”

Jolie said last year that she likes the revisionist take on the classic fairy tale by screenwriter Linda Woolverton. The story will still be a look at the relationship between Maleficent and Sleeping Beauty.
