The cast of Machete Kills is growing every day, and it looks like Amber Heard is just the latests to join the gang.
According to Variety, Heard is in negotiations to play the female lead in Robert Rodriguez’s follow-up to his grindhouse project Machete. Danny Trejo is returning in the starring role as Machete. The character is working for the U.S. this time to stop Mel Gibson’s arms dealer character from launching a deadly missile.
Heard will be taking on the role of Miss San Antonio, a code name for the manipulative assassin character. She will co-star with Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Demian Bichir and the stars Trejo and Gibson. Production on the project is expected to start this month in Austin, Texas.
Heard’s past roles include a starring role in NBC’s short lived Playboy Club, and playing the love interest to Johnny Depp in The Rum Diary. She most recently finished filming the indie film Syrup.
