Alan Moore doesn’t like people messing around with his work, especially when it comes to things being adapted to go on the big screen. Now he’s decided that he’ll do it himself and make his own original movies with Mitch Jenkins, a longtime friend and collaborator.
In the past Moore has refused to be a part of any adaption. Even though From Hell, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, V for Vendetta, and Watchmen have each had success, he has never let his name be a part of any of those projects.
The “occult” or “noir flecked” short films will be part of a larger series called Show Pieces. Episode one, called Act of Faith has already finished shooting, and Jimmy’s End will start later this summer. Moore is responsible for writing the episodic narrative while Jenkins does the hard part and brings the projects into the real world.
The two episodes will be shown together at a debut event for The Creator’s Project in New York. Depending on how well those two mini shows are received will determine how long the project is expanded.
