Genndy Tartakovsky is best known for his creation Samurai Jack, but now he’s taking on a different cartoon called Popeye.
Yes, the spinach loving sailor is back with Tartakovsky set to develop and direct the 3D adaptation that is being produced by Sony Pictures Animation. Arad Productions’ Avi and Ari Arad will be producing the project which currently has David Ronn and Jay Scherick attached to write a script for the film.
Popeye saw his start in 1929 as a comic-strip the title was then turned into a long running series of shorts and in 1980 there was the live action film that starred Robin Williams and Shelly Duval.
Tartakovsky’s latest work Hotel Transylvania will release in September and then he will be working on a feature film version of Samurai Jack.
