JON FAVREAU Abandons Iron Man For JERSEY BOYS, At Least For Now

Jon Favreau will be taking on the Broadway hit musical Jersey Boys and bringing it to the bigscreen with an adaptation by Graham King. Subtitled The Story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, the story revolves around the pop group the Four Seasons as they made their rise to the top of the charts and become stars.

GK Film acquired the rights to the film two years ago and originally had John Logan, writer of Hugo attached to pen the script. The Broadway version of the musical debuted in 2005 and has done over 2,700 performances.

The film adaptation will use many of the songs from the stage including songs like Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry and Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You. Four Seasons singer Bob Gaudio will be executive producing along with Frankie Valli.

Although Favreau has directed many popular films before, he’s recently been taking on the acting role along with producing. His next part will be in People Like Us he is currently shooting Iron Man 3 as well as Identity Thief. He was also an executive producer on The Avengers.
