In a lengthy review of the new Transformers ride at Universal Studios Hollywood, LA Times reported that the next film will not be the last, and will be a sort of reboot for the successful franchise that also has a new and well reviewed video game coming out in August.
As far as the ride goes, people are saying that the $100 million that was put into this one ride was well used. Some say it’s a “stat-of-the-art marvel.” Others are saying that the ride is far more immersive and engaging than anything like it. Even Disney Imagineer Bob Gurr said “Transformers has pushed the envelope out a bit.”
The new ride is similar to the movie in that the riders are part of a mission to get the allspark back and save the world from the Decepticons. Each car carries 12 people and takes them through a 2000 foot track through a mix of live action and projected 3D images. Although the recent opening went well, there were certain glitches and The Times say that the entire experience, while being great, needs just a little bit of work.
