MY STRANGE GRANDFATHER: A Hauntingly Beautiful Animated Film by Dina Velikovskaya

animation, student film

My Strange Grandfather is an achingly exquisite short film written, directed and animated by Russian art student Dina Velikovskaya as a graduate project. The film tells the tale of a young girl and her crazily inventive grandfather who creates beauty out of discarded trash and features stop motion at it’s finest.

The film, which features no dialog, is hitting the the film festival circuit (with a win at the Montreal Stop Motion Film Festival) and garnering superb reviews.

Watch it now, cause I have a feeling it will show up at next year’s Oscars.
