ELMORE LEONARD (1925-2013)

Beloved Western and crime fiction author and screenwriter, Elmore “Dutch” Leonard has passed away after recently suffering a serious stroke.

The author of over three dozen novels and several screenplays, Leonard was an inspiration for both his dialogue, humor and gritty realism.  Twenty-six of Leonard’s novels and short stories have been adapted for the screen (19 as motion pictures and another seven as television programs).

Among his best known work (including adaptations) includes Out of Sight, Get Shorty, Rum Punch (filmed as Jackie Brown), Hombre, 52 Pick-Up, Maximum Bob, Justified (based on short stories), Cuba Libre, 3:10 To Yuma and Freaky Deaky.
