Wilson

You will never feel lonely again when you have Wilson from the film Castaway to spend your days with.  Of course, you may get a few odd looks here and there as you share secrets and long, lingering looks with this anthropomorphic volleyball in the park or the theater, but that’s a small price to pay for friendship.

Just don’t take him rafting on the open sea, he tends to drift away.

Alien Retro Action Figures Gift Set

When you give a child the gift of an Alien 3-3/4″ playset, you give them hours and hours of violent carnage and mind-altering terror.

Which, as we all know, is what the holidays are really about.

It’s good that they learn that early.

The Six Million Dollar Man Retro Action Figures

Oh Sweet Mother of Robotics are you telling me that you get not one, but TWO Col. Steve Austins (in alternate color tracksuits) AND Bigfoot in this super-duper set of 3-3/4″ figures?

My god, there really is a Santa Claus isn’t there Virginia…

Batman Retro Action Figures

You know, that sounds relatively easy.

If only the rest of life was like that.

Evel Knievel Deluxe Dare Devil Cycle Stunt Set

Back in the 70s we were a lot more willing to be entertained by things like people on motorcycles jumping though a hoop of fire.  In fact, this was cause for prime time programming and people staying home instead of socializing with friends.

And yes, Evel Knievel was a huge reason why a nation of people (who didn’t yet know the wonders of cable TV)  were willing to stay glued to the television in anticipation of a horrible accident.

So I think it’s only right to celebrate that period of time by handing out this Stunt Cycle Set to anyone who remembers watching a white jump suited man with a death wish represent America from the back of a motorcycle.

It might even bring a tear to their eye.

Legend of Zelda: Link Between Worlds 3DS

I can’t really talk about this game as I am too overcome with happiness over its existence, so here’s the product description, which will no doubt make more sense that a bunch of exclamation marks:

Two worlds collide in an all-new adventure set in the world of Super NES classic The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. In this newly spun tale, Link transforms into a living painting to cross into a dark, parallel dimension mirroring Hyrule. Conquer the puzzles, traps, and hidden rooms of deadly dungeons to save both worlds from certain doom!

Brought to life in 3D, this beloved, top-down world is the perfect backdrop for a sweeping new tale. Dungeons sink deep below the screen as Link and his attacks pop out, highlighting the nonstop action. The pace is faster than ever, especially since you can swap items on the Nintendo 3DS touch screen. Shoot an arrow, toss a boomerang, bomb a wall, then merge into a painting to slide between two worlds — all in a matter of seconds. With gameplay, visuals, and controls this smooth and consistent, no Zelda adventure has ever been so action-packed.

Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)

People seem to forget about the Wii U which is sort of sad considering that the console is really sweet.  But a lot of that is due to the fact that after its launch last year, there hasn’t been any good games released that show off its capabilities.

But that’s about to change with Super Mario World 3D.

With reviews averaging a 94 from Metacritic, and the expectation that this game will help drive sales of the Wii U and perhaps launch the initiative to create better games for the system, there’s a good chance that this might very well be the “It” game of the year.

Get in on the action.

TellTale Games – The Wolf Among Us (PC/Mac)

If you aren’t already aware, the computer gaming arena is starting to appeal to even the most ardent console fanatics and a lot of that has to do with the quality of games being released that are far more complex and interesting than anything being made for Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft.

And TellTale Games’ Episodic The Wolf Among Us ( based on the Fables comic series) is not only getting great reviews, it’s also continuing the type of Conversation Tree play that made their Walking Dead game so incredibly awesome.

Best of all, you can buy/download the entire season (5 episodes) for only $24.99 (including a DVD that will contain a hard copy of the game that you will receive at the end of the season) which is more than half what you’d pay for a console game.

Maybe it’s time to put down the controller and start hitting the keyboard.

Gone Home (PC/Mac)

If you’re in the mood for a really different kind of game for either yourself or someone who’s a bit of a weirdo, then you might want to take a look at Gone Home, a game in which the main character returns to her home in the Pacific Northwest (circa 1995) after travelling abroad, only to find out that her entire family has disappeared.

The entire game is set inside the house and your character, Kaitlin Greenbriar, must search every nook and cranny to discover what happened via various clues, diaries and letters.

Completely engrossing, beautiful to look at and filled to the brim with enough eerie ambiance to keep you on your toes.

And, if you need some additional seducing to buy the game, you should know that the music of Gone Home is era-specific.  Meaning the Pac-Nor gets some serious Riot Grrrl nostalgia in the form of bands Heavens to Betsy, Bratmobile and even riot grrrl inspired punk band The Youngins.

Yeah, you’re going to want this game.

Downloading games is becoming a thing now, and if you’re looking for a gift for that person who has suddenly decided there is more to life than just W.O.W, Steam is a good way to go.

A great stocking stuffer.

AMC’s The Walking Dead television series is now the most watched drama in basic cable history, shattering records along the way with the release of each new season. Season 3 finds Rick Grimes and his fellow survivors continuing to seek refuge in a desolate and post-apocalyptic world and soon discover that there are greater forces to fear than just the walking dead. The struggle to survive has never been so perilous and McFarlane Toys is sitting shotgun for the ride with its fourth series of AMC’s The Walking Dead action figures. Two badass, backwoods, rebel yelling redneck brothers thrust against an unyielding onslaught of ravenous undead. Both original Atlanta survivors, Daryl and Merle Dixon have proven time and again, blood is thicker than brain matter.
