5 Awesome Pop Culture T-Shirts

January 29, 2014 by Stefan Blitz

There might be nothing more powerful than a t-shirt to share your interests, beliefs or passions. And for artists, it’s a tremendous medium to leverage your own creativity or message to the masses.

Our friends at Redbubble have created one the finest and most diverse creative communities and marketplaces online. Whatever your taste, interest or obsessions, there’s likely someone who shares it with you and has likely made a shirt of it.

With several choices of styles of shirts and colors, there’s a virtual world of pop culture centric choices to take over your wardrobe.

Here are five of my favorites:

Batman: The Dark Horse RISES!

It’s the pro-Affleck shirt supporting his casting as Batman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel. Modeled over the Sixties television show logo, this shirt simple sends the message that you support the casting choice despite the Dark Knight’s very possible Boston accent.

Herculoids Assemble

Somewhere out in deep space – live the Herculoids. Humanoid Zandor, along with his wife Tara and son Dorno, lead a group of unique creatures: Zok the flying dragon, powerful simian Igoo (who possesses rock-like skin), rhinoceros hybrid Tundro and two protoplasmic wonders appropriately named Gloop and Gleep. Together, they use their diverse super strengths to defend their utopian planet against attack from such sinister invaders as the Pod Creatures, the Reptons and the Mutoids. It’s the cult Hanna Barbera series with a battle cry lifted from Earth’s Mightiest Marvel Comics Heroes on an awesome, must-have shirt!

The Study Group

“You’ve just stopped being a study group. You’ve become something unstoppable. I hereby pronounce you a community.” – Jeff Winger

Your favorite study group from Greendale Community College is represented on this shirt which features the featureless visages of Pierce Hawthorne, Shirley Bennett, Annie Edison, Jeff Winger, Abed Nadir, Britta Perry and Troy Barnes.  A truly must have for fans.  Pop!  Pop!

Muppeteers!

Muppet fans have an equal affinity for the muppeteers as they do for the characters themselves. This Most Sensational, Inspirational, Celebrational, Muppetational T-Shirt depicts Karen Prell with Red Fraggle, Kermit with Jim, Telly with Martin Robinson, Jerry Nelson with Floyd Pepper, Steve Whitmire with Rizzo the Rat, Richard Hunt & Jim Henson with Ernie, Frank Oz with Bert, Bill Barretta with Mahna Mahna, Dave Goelz with Gonzo, Carol Spinney with Big Bird legs and Oscar the Grouch and Kevin Clash with Elmo.

The Space Ghost Returns

This shirt pays homage to Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, this time substituting Space Ghost and Jan for Batman and the first female Robin, Carrie Kelley.  An amazing mashup of pop culture icons!

“I think of Blip.  The rest is easy.”
