If there was a Nobel prize for food, I would hope that Nick Chipman from the DudeFood blog would win it for his S’mores Bacon Strips. Not only is it an awesome idea, it is so delicious that upon eating it, I had an orgasm…and then another one, and another one.
While it might seem like this would be a complex recipe to make using only the finest of ingredients, it isn’t, in fact, it is so ridiculously easy (and cheap) that you will probably end up making these for dessert almost every night…if you aren’t afraid of gaining 300 pounds and having high cholesterol.
Marshmallows (melted) or Marshmallow Fluff
Graham crackers (crushed)
Hershey chocolate bars (melted)
All you need to do is fry up some bacon (I used turkey bacon instead of pork, throwing in a scoop of Crisco into the pan before slapping in the turkey back fat which really gets it crispy). After the bacon finishes cooking, drain it on a paper towel and spread some melted marshmallows over the strips (to make this step even easier, I spread Marshmallow Fluff over it because I didn’t have regular ‘mallows). Cover with graham cracker crumbs (you can either sprinkle it over the bacon, roll the bacon in a pile of the crumbs or do what I did, pour the crumbs into a big Ziploc bag and dump a few pieces of the bacon in at a time and shake the bag until the bacon is thoroughly coated). After that melt up some broken-up Hershey bars (a good way to do it is to boil up some water in a pan, set a heat proof bowl on top of the pan, turn the heat down to simmer and drop in the chocolate pieces, stirring it until you get the right dippin’ consistency).
Then do this:
Yep, that’s it.
If you’re looking for something spectacular to end a dinner party with, or, you just feel like having something sweet and meaty to shame eat, then cook up a batch of Bacon S’mores.
Life has never been this good.
