There are two movies starring Sylvester Stallone that I don’t understand my attraction to: Cobra and Over the Top. I’ve tried to decipher the reasoning behind this through intense sessions of therapy but all my therapist and I could come up with is an aversion to films that are “Good” and/or “Worthy of Being Watched”.
Then he put me on Cymbalta.
If you are unfamiliar with these movies, Cobra is the flick where Crime is the Disease and Sylvester Stallone is the Cure and Over the Top is the film where Stallone is a truck driver/pro arm wrestler who is trying to win back the affections of his wealthy son by winning a competition in which men with arm veins hold hands competitively.
To be honest, I kinda like the arm wrestling movie more because I’m very sentimental about fathers wanting their kids to love them through the metaphorical use of the movie montage.
However, as much as that Stallone vehicle inexplicably speaks to me, I think I found an even better use of the arm wrestling sport, and that is as a healing WTF Moment (Oprah has her A-Ha! moment and I have mine).
Now, I don’t want to give too much away, but let’s just say that whenever you are feeling down about life, or are in need of a mental pick-me-up you can watch the following video and know that everything is going to be okay.
And Doctor, I think you can start weaning me off the psychotropic drugs now, I’m feeling much better.
