In the sixth episode of Agent Carter we find out more about the formation of group known as Leviathan as Peggy (Hayley Atwell) interviews a Dr. Ivchenko (Ralph Brown) at the S.S.R. office. She drills Ivchenko about why they may choose to train young girls to be deadly weapons instead of the typically chosen young men.
While she finds these reasons very relatable, she has more suspicions about who killed Agent Krzeminski and believes there is a connection.
She brings her theory to Chief Dooley (Shea Whigham) and much to her surprise, he gives her the go-ahead to follow her hunch that the killer may have been a trained female killer from Leviathan with a vendetta against Howard Stark for being a notorious womanizer.
We start this episode with Agent Carter hot on the trail of our Golden Age Black Widow, Dottie (Bridget Regan)!
Meanwhile, Agent David Sousa (Enver Gjokaj) one of the other agents at the S.S.R. office, and probably her biggest advocate there, continues to explore his own suspicious hunch about Peggy. Is she a double agent?
Sousa heads to a prison to confront the incarcerated Sheldon (Devin Ratray) about one of the murders involved with the Stark case. Sheldon sings like a canary and IDs Carter as the one who knocked him out as she busted the explosive ring in Episode 2 — Bridge and Tunnel.
Dottie, Peggy’s not-so-coincidentally new neighbor, sets up post across the street from the S.S.R. building by feigning interest for a job interview at a dentist’s office. When Dr. Feelgood makes a pass at the deadly interviewee, Dottie finds a creative use for the dentist drill as she slams him into the chair. Open wide!
In a tense set up between the dentist office and S.S.R. — that at first appears to be an assassination attempt — there is a bait and switch with the sniper rifle as Dottie and Ivchenko send secret messages back and forth with morse code via the light reflection in the rifle site. Ivchenko is there at S.S.R. to retrieve something but hasn’t yet, and Dottie’s new directive is to kill Agent Carter.
Meanwhile, Peggy drags Jarvis (James D’Arcy) around the five boroughs, wading through a sea of Stark’s ex flings and going down a list of women that Stark bought the same tennis bracelet.
The pair go door to door and are greeted with disdain and an occasional slap for poor Jarvis who was just Howard’s messenger to all of these ladies. When Howard love ‘em, he leaves it to Jarvis to leave ‘em. So the breakup is easy on Stark, but we see here Jarvis is the one that takes the lumps for his employer!
They do finally come across an address which is currently unoccupied. She sneaks inside to investigate to find a pile of unopened mail and telltale handcuff marks on the bed post as seen in the young girl’s training facility (the Red Room, see Episode #5 — The Iron Ceiling).
After this investigation Carter and Jarvis head to their usual diner to be surrounded by S.S.R. agents now looking to arrest Peggy for treasonous involvement in the Stark case, but she and Jarvis get the jump on them. The two escape out the back after knocking out the whole team including Agent Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) in an awesomely choreographed fight scene.
Sousa has the opportunity to shoot her, but he can’t bring himself to do it, he does the right thing and turns his head away. Carter and Sousa are protecting each other now, as Leviathan is a formidable foe and the less he knows about her motivations, the better.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ivchenko is back at S.S.R. waiting patiently while the boys organize to go after Carter, and once everyone is gone he hypnotizes the Agent in charge of guarding him, causing him to eventually to commit suicide.
Peggy heads back to her apartment knowing the risks of getting caught, to retrieve Steve Roger’s (aka: Captain America) blood. While she almost makes a successful escape thanks to Angie’s (over) acting. C
Carter commends her Broadway grade skills and Angie replies, “I knew you didn’t work at the phone company”.
Finally, on her way out to meet up at the rendezvous point with Jarvis, Peggy runs up agains Dottie in the hallway who plants a big poisonous kiss on her (using Carter’s own S.S.R. Sweet Dreams lipstick)! The ziplock knocks Carter out, but not before Peggy sees the telltale handcuff bruises on Dottie’s wrist connecting her to Leviathan.
Before Dottie can fulfill her mission and kill Carter, the S.S.R. boys swoop in take her back to the office into custody.
Angie goes to retrieve Dottie for a house meeting to find an empty dresser and no Dottie in sight.
Now both of her covers are blown as she leaves the Griffith Hotel in handcuffs. She tells them she will explain everything, but will they let her?
