Geeky Ways to Invest Your Money

Looking for a smart investment?

The newer the technology, and the more it helps people, the better the investment.

People are lining up in droves to purchase the next big thing. Rob Shoesmith, a garbage man turned blogger, once waited in line for 10 days to purchase the latest iPhone. Imagine being an original investor in that piece of technology; you’d be very rich right now.

If you’re thinking of investing in the latest gizmo, here are some suggestions to keep you running with the speed of progress.

Apps for Your Phone to Keep You Fit

People are crazy for self-improvement apps, and this trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Nielsen reports that 46 million people used fitness apps in January 2014. These apps have a lot of capabilities, but the ones with newer capabilities are your best investment.

Take Fitnet, for example. The app uses video to record you while you work out to videos of personal trainers. Then, it evaluates your performance, and gives you feedback to enhance your next workout.

Another great example of a worthy investment app is Zombies, Run! 3. The tool/game is fun and motivational. Every step you take earns you rewards, which help you survive the zombie apocalypse. It costs $3.99, but that is a small price to pay to save humanity from almost certain doom.

Some apps are more straightforward, but still a great investment. This includes the ever-popular Noom Coach, which helps users count calories, and track their exercise.

4K Televisions

All the major manufacturers are making 4K televisions now. This technology will affect all other image platforms, such as phones, cameras, tablets, and computer monitors. 4K has more pixels than your standard 1080p set has. How many? Four times more and they create stunning, sharper images.

The higher resolution will allow you to get closer to the image before it starts breaking down to indiscernible pixels. This feature is making 4K computer monitors one of the fastest growing sectors in technology, which makes 4K a great investment.

Emerging Cellphone Technology

It’s always a smart idea to invest in operating systems that can function at a greater capacity than current operating systems. What’s the next best thing? Will Android and iOS continue to dominate the market? More than likely, yes, but other operating systems are up-and-coming, such as Windows 10 and Cyanogen.

If you do choose to invest in a new operating system, it’s important to fully vet it for operating errors, malware, and antivirus. Choose a high-quality anti-virus program, install it, and ensure that your phone is protected. Antivirus for android operating systems, iOS and other operating systems is another worthy technology to invest in because it’s a highly necessary and useful product.

Video Games

Everyone seems to be gaming these days, and most consoles allow users to create and sell their content, so the independent market is a great place to invest your money. According to Mental Floss, gamers are going to be purchasing highly ranked games, and a lot of downloadable content (DLC). DLC is an upgrade to a game that can be purchased if the original game is installed.

If you’ve got the funds, technology is a great investment. There are plenty of start-ups looking to put your money to good use. The most important thing you can do is research a technology’s usability and desirability. If it helps people, and they really want it, you’re going to see a return on your investment.
