Bundle benefits the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund

In preparation of Banned Books Week, Humble Bundle is offering an assortment of comics, as well as authors, that have been challenged and in some cases banned.

Many notable creators are represented here, including Alan Moore, Scott Snyder, Jeff Smith, Jeff Lemire, Wendy Pini, Garth Ennis, Cory Doctorow, Jock, Kevin O’Neill, the Hernandez Brothers, Julie Doucet, and more. With the help of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF), this bundle was curated to be representative of the comics that need protection under the First Amendment.

Free from censorship, a wide range of titles from award-winning creators are offered in honor of the week that celebrates them.

Customers can name their price for Maggie the Mechanic (Love & Rockets), The Frank Book, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Vol. 3, CBLDF Presents: Liberty, Madame Paul Affair, and Bone Vol. 1.

Those who pay more than the average price will also receive The Little Man, The Boys: Herogasm, Heartbreak Soup (Love & Rockets), Barefoot Gen Vol 1: A Cartoon Story of Hiroshima, Essex County, and Elfquest: The Final Quest Vol. 1.
Customers who pay $15 or more will receive all of the above plus Not Funny Haha, Wytches Vol. 1, and Information Doesn’t Want To Be Free (Audiobook).

Even more controversial titles to be added mid-promotion on September 30, 2015.

As with all Humble Bundles, customers can choose how their purchase dollars are allocated, between the publisher and charity. Humble Comics Bundle: Forbidden Comics Supporting Banned Books Week supports the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.

“Every year, Banned Books Week reminds us that the freedom to read isn’t something we can take for granted,” said Charles Brownstein, Executive Director of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.“ Some of the most creative and thought provoking voices are challenged and sometimes banned. These challenges cast a stigma on valuable work, and deprive communities and individuals. We’re proud to team up with Humble Bundle to celebrate Banned Books Week, and are grateful to all the publishers and authors who are offering this incredible selection of outstanding books.”

“Humble Bundle Books is proud to be supporting and celebrating Banned Books Week with this special promotion, curated by our friends at the CBLDF,” said Kelley Allen, Director of Books at Humble Bundle. “This bundle is a riveting collection of thought-provoking and groundbreaking works of both classic and new literature. Vive la liberté!”

Humble Comics Bundle: Forbidden Comics Supporting Banned Books Week runs for two weeks and ends Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. Pacific time.
