Comedians John Hodgman (http://www.johnhodgman.com), Jeanne Darst (www.jeannedarst.com) and Josh Gondelman (http://www.joshgondelman.com) along with musicians Bambi Kino (http://www.bambi-kino.com) and Tammy Faye Starlight are the first performers confirmed to appear at the second Fun Lovers Unite! An Evening of Music, Comedy, And Gun Sense NYC event at Highline Ballroom in New York City on Wednesday May 11. Doors open at 7PM EST.
More fantastic performers will be announced soon and a special musical guest will be announced closer to the date of the show.
Fun Lovers Unite! An Evening of Music, Comedy, And Gunsense NYC will benefit Manhattan Chapter of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence (www.bradycampaign.org) who develop and implement extensive public health and safety programs and utilize the courts to reduce gun violence.
Each performer on the bill is donating their time to this life-saving cause and is proud to stand with other fellow comedians and musicians in solidarity to raise awareness for common sense gun violence prevention efforts and the elected officials who stand up for the safety of our communities.
The event is being produced by friends Joshua Mills in Los Angeles and Maccabee Montandon in Brooklyn, who are both dads of young children, and who wanted to do something about the epidemic of gun violence in America. Montandon’s brother, Asher, was shot and killed during an attempted robbery in 1992.
“Fun Lovers Unite NYC is just one example of the grassroots momentum across this country calling for gun sense,” said Maccabee Montandon. Co-Founder of Fun Lovers Unite. “Music and comedy are powerful ways to reach people–we are so grateful to the performers who will use their talents to bring people together, offer great entertainment and a ton of belly laughs, educate them on the problem of gun violence, and ask them to take action to save lives. Gun violence is often a hard issue to talk about –this event is a way to let people know we are all human, we can have fun while also trying to raise awareness for a serious issue.”
