Hi, what are you looking for?

Cartoonist Howard Cruse emailed me earlier this week about this Kickstarter for the humor magazine, The American Bystander, and I’m glad he did!

Growing up, I was a much too young fan of National Lampoon (thanks to my father) and this print humor quarterly compares itself to not only that magazine, but also SPY and The Realist and contains comics, essays, short stories.

I’m in.

Contributors include Charles Barsotti (The New Yorker), Merrill Markoe (Late Night With David Letterman), Liza Donnelly (The New Yorker), Zach Bornstein (Jimmy Kimmel Live), MK Brown (National Lampoon), Shary Flenniken (National Lampoon), Liana Finck (The New Yorker), Howard Cruse (Stuck Rubber Baby), Jack Handey (SNL, The New Yorker), Todd Hanson (The Onion), John Howell Harris (The Onion), Brian McConnachie (National Lampoon, SNL, SCTV), Mallory Ortberg (The Toast, Slate), Mike Reiss (The Simpsons), Nell Scovell (SPY), and Steve Young (The Late Show With David Letterman).

The second issue has already met it’s goal, but there’s still time to back it (and get issue #1 as well).
