Legendary Comic Creator Frank Miller to Appear at Boston Comic Con

Boston Comic Con has announced  that comic book legend Frank Miller will appear at the annual comic book convention on Friday, August 12 at the Seaport World Trade Center, his only New England appearance in 2016. Miller is one of the most celebrated creators in comic book history. Boston Comic Con, considered one of the top comic conventions in the U.S., will be held August 12 through 14.

Beginning with Miller’s run on Marvel’s Daredevil, during which he created the popular ninja assassin Elektra, he ushered in a darker, grittier vision of superheroes that paved the way for the comic book industry to explore more mature themes. His seminal work on Batman with The Dark Knight Returns and Year One continues to influence creators today and set the stage for the recent films. His independent titles, Sin City and 300, have both been adapted to movies, with Miller co-directing the former alongside Robert Rodriguez. Most recently, Miller has worked on All-Star Batman and Robin and co-wrote the third installment of Dark Knight Returns.

“Frank Miller is a towering presence in the comic book industry.  His appearances at comic conventions are extremely rare and we are honored that he has chosen this year’s Boston Comic Con as his only appearance in New England,”” said Nick Kanieff, co-founder of Boston Comic Con. “This is a unique  opportunity to meet a genuine legend and builds upon our mission to stay, ‘True to Comics, Committed to Fans.’”

Fans can take advantage of special VIP attendance packages that provide opportunities to meet the legendary comic creator in person, receive examples of original, signed artwork and get his autograph on items of their choice, which they can also opt to have certified by CGC – the industry grading and certification authority.

Frank Miller headlines a stellar line-up of over 90 world class comic book artists and writers, including notable appearances by Sam Kieth and John Cassaday.  Kieth is best known for his creator-owned titles The Maxx and Zero Girl and as co-creator of The Sandman.  Cassady is a fan favorite artist with acclaimed runs on Planetary, Captain America, Astonishing X-Men and Marvel’s new Star Wars series.  They join other famed artists such as Arthur Adams, Mike and Laura Allred, Greg Capullo, Amanda Conner, Darwyn Cooke, Terry Dodson, Phil Jimenez, Erik Larsen, Jae Lee, David Lloyd, Jimmy Palmiotti, Mark Waid, Marv Wolfman, Bernie Wrightson and many more.

Boston Comic Con also boasts an impressive Celebrity Guest list including William Shatner, the original Captain James T. Kirk, whose appearance, along with Karl Urban and Vic Mignogna, marks the celebration of Star Trek’s 50th anniversary.  Also appearing are leading stars from top current TV shows including John Barrowman, Caity Lotz, Ciara Rene and Robbie Amell from CW’s Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow and The Flash, Ben Mckenzie from Gotham, Elizabeth Henstridge from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Seth Gilliam from The Walking Dead and featuring special appearances from Dr Who companions Jenna Coleman and Karen Gillan.

Boston Comic Con will also feature a Friday Night Drink’n’Draw, Boston Comic Con Night at Fenway Park, a Charity Art Auction, Film Festival, Cosplay Harbor Cruise, Saturday Night After Party, Cosplay Costume Contest and hundreds of comic book artists, writers and exhibitors selling comic book memorabilia. Friday, August 12, at Boston Comic Con is Family Friday with special admission pricing for kids, a dedicated Kids Con with special kid-friendly programming and activities, and a Kids Cosplay Contest.
