‘Nightwing #46’ (review)

Written by Benjamin Percy
Illustrated by Chris Mooneyham
Published by DC Comics

I have been enjoying the hell out of this new creative team’s first storyline on this title. Dick Grayson is going up against a computerized foe and it’s bananas. But it’s bananas in a very good way.

The opening splash page of this issue by Mooneyham and Klaus Janson sets the tone of the issue up perfectly.

The high tech foe has gone into Dick (literally) and tries to take him down.

Dick fights back but how can he defeat a digital phantom who cannot be hurt? The fight is brutal until Dick rips the tech off and jumps out a window.

Luckily he is caught by Batgirl! And that’s only in the first few pages.

Percy has certainly turned this book around for me. He has created some exciting and tense scenes that don’t let up!

Nightwing and Batgirl are then stalked through the streets of Bludhaven and have to drop into the sewers to regroup. Can this technological villain be stopped? Will Nightwing and Bargirl prevail?

Can they possibly win?

Is this new creative team’s run going to end before it even got off the ground?

Many of these questions are asked in this very issue!

Nightwing and Batgirl form a game plan. They go out to stop their foe. At the end they find themselves right up against him. And it’s a cliffhanger. It’s very exciting up to the end of the issue.

The writing is strong. The artwork is very good. Like I said, it’s a nice new direction on this book from where we have been. I have been enjoying it thoroughly and can’t wait to read the next issue! It’s a great feeling.

RATING: B+
