Stream On: New To Netflix For August 2018

This August, Netflix will debut forty-seven originals for your entertainment needs.

Forty-seven.

That’s a massive move for the streaming service which not so long ago was completely dependent on the ability of stoners to mail back their DVDs to sustain their business model.

While Netflix still offers a steady stream of classic comedies, awesome actioners, tear-jerkers,  and feel-good romance pics to keep any film fan busy enough for a month, the streaming giant is its own content creating machine…as it has always intended.

Heavy hitters in the original field this month includes the film Like Father, starring Kristen Bell, Kelsey Grammer and Seth Rogen. The dramedy follows a woman who is left at the altar and decides to use her honeymoon to work on her relationship with her estranged father.

Also streaming this month is Insatiable, which is already picking up a great deal of traction online for all the wrong reasons. The supposed revenge comedy is getting a lot of Internet hate from people who claim it glorifies body shaming. Check it out and judge for yourself. Is it about shame, blame or just lame?

From The Simpsons creator Matt Groening comes Disenchantment, a disenfranchised look at classic fairy tales through the cloudy sad beer goggles of today. Starring Futurama’s John DiMaggio and Billy West, as well as comedians Eric Andre and why-isn’t-he-a-superstar-yet Noel Fielding.

And finally, coming back for a second round after an impressive first showing is Ozark.

All this AND more movies than you can shake a Roku remote at…Netflix has you covered as a way to beat the end-of-summer heat.
