As Plastic Man would say, Holy socks! What’s with all the hostile vegetation?
Seems Doctor Dread is once again several steps ahead of our terrific team-mates. Good thing one of them can ghost her body and blow things up with her dark matter touch.
Guess Doc Dread wasn’t counting on that.
Actually, it’s great to see Linnia finally hit her stride with this issue. It really didn’t take long at all to get her fully up to speed from sad and passive victimhood, to a force in her own right, and one to be reckoned with.
Good ol’ Rex Mason too, back in his original fine swaggering macho form, seems entirely in his element, so to speak.
For that matter the whole team has come together rather nicely, and in this issue there’s even more good news. Turns out good things as well as bad can come from leaping into the breach.
One thing about Jeff Lemire, he’s not shy about keeping things moving at a brisk clip. The only constant about this book seems to be change. That, and the heroic spirit of our protagonists.
Happy to say, those changes don’t include swapping out the dynamic artistry of Dale Eagelsham this issue. Good to have some consistency for this adventure, and Eagelsham is particularly satisfying for this one.
I guess like attracts like, even across dimensional barriers. Because this issue officially brings together the daring resources of two fantastic adventurous families. No sooner is Tom Strong free from the dastardly trap of Doctor Dread than he’s springing into action to rescue his missing wife, daughter and simian colleague.
So naturally enough, The Terrifics offer to help.
But when you’re jumping off from the Forest of Eternity, you never quite know where you’ll end up. Trust Mr. Lemire to have fun with the possibilities.
Get ready for non-stop action and a meeting of heroes that seems destined to change the fate of two worlds. Poor Doc Dread just doesn’t seem to know what he’s up against.
Or does he?
