Where Geeks Go For Their Fix

Although the amount of content out there to keep us geeks satisfied is immense and ever-growing, from comic books, to increasingly frequent film franchise releases, sometimes it can feel difficult to get our daily fix. Maybe you’ve played your favourite Civilizations video game instalment for the 1000th time already, or you just cannot wait another two weeks for the next Justice League comic to be released.

We all need to get our daily dose from somewhere, and the traditional channels sometimes simply don’t cut it. Luckily, there’s plenty of options for geeky content being released on the daily, if only you know where to look. Here are some alternative ways to get your daily geek fix.

Events

Every true geek’s ultimate fantasy is to cop a ticket to one of the sacred events of geek culture, that we keep marked in our calendars in the hope that one day, we might gain admission into those hallowed halls. While meticulously watched all of the latest E3 releases on YouTube, or following the Twittersphere for real-time updates on what’s happening at the San Diego Comic-Con might seem like enough to satiate us, it often isn’t. Luckily, these days there’s bound to be plenty of cheap or even free events going on in your city to help you get your daily dose of geekiness. From Pokemon Go meet-ups, to graphic novel book clubs, to gaming tournaments, just a quick Facebook search will bring up more events going on than you thought humanly possible.

Online Gaming

When all else fails, the internet will provide. While our favourite video games are the true staple that keeps us going, they eventually lose their appeal. Once you’ve exhausted all the DLC packages and uncovered every Easter egg in Skyrim that there is to find, it’s time to look elsewhere. Luckily, there are plenty of online games that allowed you to play themed versions of all the best casino games. Scoping out the latest video online slots games will bring up endless slots themed around geek culture staples, from the classic Age of the Gods slots series to the Gladiator Jackpot game. The list is endless, meaning you’ll be able to keep playing your favourite style of games long after you’ve run out of PlayStation content.

Independent Merch Sellers

There are some truly amazing merch sellers out there, however many of the mainstream vendors will happily charge you an arm and a leg for that Captain America figurine you’ve been eyeing up. Support small businesses by opting for local, independent sellers who make and sell their own merchandise for a fraction of the price. It might not be official, but with so much talent and artistry on sites like Etsy, you won’t be disappointed, and you’ll certainly never run out of geeky shopping options.

If you have any tips or tricks for our fellow geeks on where to get the latest fix for all things nerdy, let us know by dropping us a comment in the section below.
