Stream On: New to Netflix for January 2019

The new year on Netflix isn’t noted for all the goodies coming to the streaming service, but for all the goodies leaving.

In January, say farewell to handfuls of favorite classic films ranging from Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining to all the Godfather films. Wave adios to The Green Mile, Million Dollar Baby, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Like Water for Chocolate, and Interview with the Vampire.

Netflix is leaving the Sharknado series on dry land, evicting Rent, decrowning The Princess Diaries, losing Finding Neverland, and tossing The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring into the fiery pits of Mordor.

More importantly, to our horror of horror, seasons 15 – 17 of everyone’s favorite sick bed show, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit will also be departing. Da-dum!

On the bright side, it’s also kicked Catwoman to the curb…so not everything is a wash.

In its place, we have a few returning favorites and the ever growing list of Netflix original.

This month, we have new seasons of Grace and Frankie (Jan. 18), Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Jan. 25) and Marvel’s The Punisher.

New exciting pics include Disney•Pixar’s The Incredibles 2, Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation and every damn Indiana Jones movie. And yes. Even Crystal Skull.

And for everyone who loves a good dose of schadenfreude, there is FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened.

Happy watching!
