This is a fast moving and exciting comic book made all the more exciting by the art of Rafa Sandoval. His work on this is so great that it really made me sit up. This is another well written issue that is complimented very nicely with the artwork.
The Flash is down in Corto Maltese fighting against Powerhouse, who is trying to use her found Strength Force powers to overthrow the government.
Barry joins up at the beginning of the issue with the police to try to stop her. It’s a brutal fight and Powerhouse does not let up.
What’s really cool about this issue is that Barry eventually tries another tactic with dealing with her.
He appeals to her by revealing his identity. Powerhouse relents and then tells her a bit about herself, including how she got her powers and what she did with it.
It’s a nice moment by Williamson and shows that heroes can use their brains as well as their strength. It really works well here.
The two eventually decide to work together. Meanwhile, back in Central City, some of Barry’s rogues are up to no good. There is a nice twist of events at the end which sets things up for next issue.
And I am excited to see what happens. It’s been pretty fun.
The only thing that doesn’t really work for me is Powerhouse’s costume design, which looks like a Green Lantern gone to hell. It’s a small complaint but I think more time could have been used to develop it. That minor complaint aside, this is a good issue in a solid book.
