This is a title that somehow always manages to put a smile on my face. Peter J. Tomasi writes a fun tale that is just overly enjoyable. The Super Sons are lost in time and space and they are trying to get out of it and get their bearings. It’s a good story with solid characters.
The issue starts off with Robin hunting fruit on this strange planet.
You heard me right. He’s hunting fruit.
Superboy scolds him for doing so. Then a little monkey like creature steals some fruit from Robin and off we go! They chase him down but that leads to a confrontation with an even bigger creature! They defeat that creature and make their camp for the night. But their adventure is just beginning.
Tomasi writes a fun tale here that starts off full of promise and delivers repeatedly throughout the comic. Listening to the two heroes bicker and go back and forth is a lot of fun to read.
Eventually they wake up and Rex Luther is waiting for them! He is ready to kill them both and that little monkey like thing until a blast comes from nowhere and saves them! And who is their hero?
Well, it’s none other than Tommy Tomorrow! He is a self described “ticked off planeteer” and he takes Robin, Superboy, and Rex into custody on his spaceship and they go for a little ride. They eventually realize that Tommy is taking them to a prison planet! It looks like things are going to get worse before they get better!
This is just a continually fun read. Tomasi does a hell of job writing it and keeping it entertaining and just fun. The art by Scott Godlewski is wonderful and keeps the enjoyment rollicking along. This is a fine issue in an entertaining series.
