‘Hex Wives #3’ (review)

Written by Ben Blacker
Illustrated by Mirka Andolfo
Published by DC Comics

This series has an interesting premise that has gone in some really cool directions. The last two issues set a lot of the story up and now we are getting to the meat of everything.

And man, I’ve got to say it’s pretty damn entertaining.

Isadora comes face to face with a scary looking woman who claims to be her mother.

The problem, as Isadora says, is that her mother is dead.

The woman corrects her and says she is the mother of all the witches who are on Earth.

There is also more to this woman than meets the eye.

Blacker’s story had me hooked within the first three pages.

Aaron comes in and saves her. But is Aaron really on her side? Or is the witch lady actually trying to help her?

All of these questions are brought up and it had me going!

Then suddenly, the scene switches to the next morning. Everything seems calm. Isadora doesn’t remember anything. It’s actually back to wedded and domestic bliss. But again, is it really? Or is something bubbling beneath the surface?

Aaron drives and goes down to a secret underground lair. It’s a pretty insane scene. Then, Isadora starts to meet others just like her. It all leads to a crazy cliffhanger which just made me want the next issue immediately.

This is a fun and wacky book that is well written. Andolfo is amazing and gets the “acting ” of the characters down perfectly in the art.  I have no idea where it’s going from page to page.

And let me just say, that’s one of the best feelings in the world.
