This comic book is said to have a big forthcoming impact on the DC Universe.

How big is it?

Well, that remains to be seen. For the moment, the creative team has introduced an amazing new character and have introduced an intriguing mystery. It’ll be interesting to see where they can take us from here!

The issue begins with our lead character, Naomi, talking to the town mechanic, Dee. She asks him about the last time her town had a superhuman event in it. She learns that the date that it happened was the day she was adopted. She thinks it’s more than just a convenient coincidence.

But what is the reasoning behind it? And does it have bigger ramifications than we originally thought?

The mechanic seems to know a lot about Naomi. But why? He throws her out. Then Naomi heads home and asks her family about her past and the mechanic himself . Her foster parents listen to her and are supportive but have no answers. She can feel their love however and their support. But she knows that something else is up. Something that is much bigger than her tiny corner of the universe.

Naomi then talks online with her friend Annabelle. They talk about the last time Superman was in their town. They analyze it. They even study it. Something isn’t right and Naomi wants to get to the bottom of it all! It’s just eating at her.

She tries to sleep. Since she can’t, she decides to get up and go break into the mechanic’s place. She finds a picture. Who is this person? Then, the mechanic appears. He’s upset about the picture. Then he tells Naomi that he’s not ready to talk about it. She tells him to get ready because it’s time. And that is where we end the issue.

It admittedly does move a little fast and the storytelling is very compressed. It’s a small thing, but it has to be said. It’s an intriguing story for sure. It just moves at the speed of lightning.

The art is very good too and is perfect for this title. Where is the whole thing going? I think we are about to find out! I’m intrigued enough to see just what is going on and what happens from here.

RATING: A-
