‘The Wild Storm #22’ (review)

Written by Warren Ellis
Illustrated by Jon Davis-Hunt
Published by DC Comics

This book is awesome! As we are circling the end of this epic, Warren Ellis decides to turn up the heat! There are only two issues left after this one and I can’t believe how good it has been. This has been one hell of a ride indeed!

The issue starts with Agent King leaving work and headed towards the street. The people around her are complaining that nothing works right in the town.

Then, there is an assassination attempt on her life that goes horribly wrong!

She stops it but, with the help of a device, she causes a lot of havoc. It’s a great start to the issue and the creative team really gets your blood running right away!

From this point, all of the Wildstorm characters are starting to meet and they are all waiting for something to come from the sky.

Jenny Mei is getting them all together for the upcoming threat and we see a lot of set up. I have a feeling that this set up here will lead to an explosive last two issues coming up.

Then, the second half of the issue is when we see a full blown attack. It starts to get crazy as the heroes on earth have to go up against the villains in the sky. It’s awesome.

This fight takes up the rest of the issue. It gets progressively more insane as the issue goes on. By the end it got so happily nuts and  the heroes face this huge and crazy villain. By this point, I was just thrilled. It was pretty excellent.

The story is exciting and the art is just perfect. The writing by Ellis is fast and character driven. The art is incredibly exciting. You can’t ask for a better package than this. I’ll be reading right up until the very last page!

RATING: A
