‘Catwoman #11’ (review)

Written by Joelle Jones
Illustrated by Fernando Blanco
and Hugo Petrus
Published by DC Comics

This is another solid issue of Catwoman written by Joelle Jones. I really appreciate the story she is creating here. She writes quaint little stories that aren’t “explosive” but are more character based and paced slower than most comic books out there. It’s a welcome treat.

The opening is a movie premiere. The stars are out. Everyone is on the red carpet. Then, we see Catwoman riding on her motorcycle in the middle of a chase scene.

You just know that these two scenes are going to meet up sometime during this fast paced issue.

The chase scene we get to see is well paced and exciting.

Jones knows how to make things move and she shows everyone here just how much. We also get to see the stars on the carpet. They are all doing the interviews that they usually do and are enjoying the night. The tension starts to really build.

And eventually, of course, Catwoman and the gang crash the scene. It’s a pretty fun one few moments. She eventually rescues Carlos(who she was chasing after). She saves him and together they run down the red carpet, trying to now make their escape out of there.

It’s very enjoyable to watch these two escape from their pursuers and escape from the police. They do it well and make a break for it to freedom. And to be honest, that’s pretty much it for the story.

There isn’t much “meat” to the story. And that’s okay!

It’s a huge chase scene and I was fine with that. There wasn’t much in the way of plot, save for a cliffhanger. It made me interested to see what might be coming next.

The first half to the book has art by Blanco, which is what I preferred. That’s not to say the second half by Petrus isn’t bad, I just preferred Blanco’s art. It’s a simple issue that’s pretty enjoyable. And sometimes that’s all you need.

RATING: B
