This is another fine issue by the creative team of Dan Jurgens and Rick Leonardi. These two creators work great together and it feels like some classic comic book storytelling. I love what they are doing and I hope they stay together beyond this series of issues.
The book opens with a visually exciting scene with the future Batman fighting against the villainous Splitt. Rick Leonardi makes the whole thing flow beautifully.
Terry basically has his back against the wall and is trying to keep up with this villain. Things start looking bleak.
Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne is acting completely out of character. He is out at a casino gambling. His entire team is taking notice, too.
Then things get downright crazy.
Suddenly, he is talking about taking his date to Wayne Manor and even alludes to taking her into the Batcave.
Just what the heck is going on here?
Bruce makes his play for the cave and Terry tries to stop him.
Then, Bruce does something you never would expect: He actually pulls out a gun! He shoots Terry! Terry regroups to Wayne Manor and then figures out that False Face might in fact be responsible for all of this.
This leads to one hell of a plot twist at the end of the issue. Honest and truly it’s damn impressive how Jurgens handles the ending and leaves us on a cliffhanger.
And what a cliffhanger! I was thrilled and entertained throughout the issue.
Jurgens and Leonardi work super well together. That’s the best part of this. They know the character well and it all makes for another nice issue. Since Rebirth started this has been one of the most consistent of all of the books. I’m loving it.
