Stream On: New to Netflix for July 2019

Pop the collar on your polo, pour your New Coke, and get ready to return to Hawkins!

After a lengthy wait, the gang from the megahit Stranger Things is finally set to return on July 4. In season three, the modern day Monster Squad spend their summer days exploring the dangers of the Upside Down, puberty, and ’80s fashion. For the third outing, the group is joined by Maya Thurman-Hawke (daughter of Ethan and Uma), Jake Busey and The Princess Bride star Cary “As You Wish” Elwes.

While we are chatting about Stranger Things, former Hellboy David Harbour takes a break from the Upside Down to star in a second project for the streaming service with the mockumentary Frankenstein’s Monster’s Monster, Frankenstein. Harbour stars as an actor who discovers his father’s disastrous attempt to bring life the classic tale of horror for the small screen. Frankenstein’s Monster’s Monster, Frankenstein airs on July 16.

Get ready to happy cry as the Net’ is the surprise release of the fourth season of Queer Eye. The Fab Five return to spread their pixie dust over folks in need of a fabulous helping hand. Tune in to watch Jonathan provide sass with his beauty tips, Bobby breaks his back to bring beauty to humble habitats, Tan give folks a needed boost with fashion, Antoni preaching the need for a healthy diet….and Karamo.

No need to remember all their faces ’cause the cell block drama of Orange is the New Black are back for a seventh and final season. In this last outing, Piper is attempts to make her way on the outside after her release and without her prison wife, Alex. So, get your goodbyes ready as the final season hits Netflix on July 26.

Chris Evans stars in the original Netflix movie The Red Sea Diving Resort, a dramatic retelling of the 1981 rescue of Ethiopian Jewish immigrants to Israel. Co-starring Michael Kenneth Williams, Ben Kingsley, Haley Bennett, and Greg Kinnear, pic debuts on July 31.

Point Blank is an offbeat fast-paced thriller starring Anthony Mackie, Marcia Gay Harden and Frank Grillo. Mackie is given leading duties as a man who teams with a murder suspect to find his kidnapped wife.

Starbuck returns to sci-fi for the small screen as Katee Sackhoff stars in Another Life. Co-starring Justin Chatwin, Selma Blair and Jake Abel, the sci-fier follows and astronaut and her crew as they head off on a mission to retrieve an alien artifact.

And from the twisted minds of helmer Guillermo del Toro and the animation team behind Trollhunters comes the second part of 3Below: Tales of Arcadia, which follows a trio of alien bounty hunters as attempt to blend in on Earth. This kids’ sci-fi starter kit stars the voices of Nick Offerman and Diego Luna.

On the movie front, indoor kids will need not worry as Netflix fills their catalog with classic comedy fare such as Caddyshack, Cheech & Chong’s Up in Smoke and The Hangover. There is also quite a few kid-friendly features add to the streaming service, such as Mary Poppins Returns, Race to Witch Mountain, Astro Boy, Little Monsters, and Megamind. And for those who like a more classy selection, there is Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Philadelphia, The Iron Lady, and Rain Man. And of course the best movie of all time, Road House.
