This is the finale to the Flash: Year One storyline!
I was blown away by this issue and the arc as a whole. Joshua Williamson and Howard Porter have created an instant classic here and it’s honestly been fantastic.
They end the storyline on a high note and leave you completely awestruck and excited at what is to come!
The Flash fights the powered up Turtle in an all out battle! It’s a pretty wild fight, too! While this is going on, Linda is out fighting a bunch of goons that are dressed in Turtle-like outfits.
Can this army be defeated?
Will Barry and Linda be able to survive this onslaught?
Or is this the end of The Flash as we know it?
Things go Barry’s way, and the pretty insane skirmish ends with the Crimson Comet victorious.
Then we cut over to the awesome celebration for Flash Day! Williamson does bring the whole thing home with the script here and it’s all rather moving and cool. We even get an introduction to Wally West in this story!
But wait! There’s more! Williamson and Scott Kolins have a story where Barry fights against the villainous Steadfast. It’s a nice story that leads us to the next chapter in Barry’s life and it seems pretty well thought out. It’s always nice to see Kolins on the art and this shorter story just works.
The final story is a tie in to the Year of the Villain storyline which is pretty brutal to read. Captain Cold is the focus on this one and it shows how it leads in Lex Luthor’s “offer” to him.
It’s another great bridge to upcoming issues and I’m excited to see where it goes. This is just getting more and more thrilling with each and every issue.
