The Super-Heroes Taking on Slot Machines

Comic book super-heroes are more popular than ever at the moment. They’re not just in comics any more, either. There are TV shows, toys, videogames, conventions, and movies. Avengers: Endgame, which came out earlier this year and starred more superheroes than any other movie, was recently crowned the highest-grossing film of all time, making an estimated $2.79 billion in just 13 weeks. But there are many more avenues superheroes are taking into pop culture. The next step for superheroes is, in fact, online casino games.

It’s not just superheroes that have become incredibly successful over the last few years. Online casinos have been on the up and up too, and the industry is estimated to be worth over $80 billion by 2022. It’s no surprise that the two have teamed up, as there is great overlap in demographics too.

There are various types of slot machines on offer for gamers. There are three-reel slots and five-reel slots, which do what the name says. But there are also titles packing more advanced gameplay, including 3D graphics, immersive bonus rounds that often require skill and storylines to really draw the player in. Some online slots look like land-based slot machines, while others have lots more moving parts and are often themed, like Action Bank Slot, which sees you trying to break into a bank vault full of jewels.

If they go online, fans of comic books will be able to find slot machines focusing on all of their favourite superheroes.  There are games inspired by everything from the original 1960s TV series of Batman starring Adam West to the 2016 blockbuster Batman v Superman. Marvel is also represented with slots games starring familiar names such as Iron Man, Spider-Man, and the Incredible Hulk. You can even play licensed games with characters such as Hellboy or Transformers.

All of these are typically feature slots, meaning they’re full of special features to gameplay more than symbols just spinning around. These special features can offer the player extra spins, wildcards, or bonus rounds, and make the game more exciting. And since the games are themed around superheroes, so are the special features.

In a Thor game, for example, you might spin the reels and, if you’re lucky, get the Lightning Free Spin bonus. The goal is to try to activate the Rainbow Bridge. If you go for one of the Flash-themed games instead, then you’ll be able to battle all of the speedster’s greatest foes, such as Captain Cold or Gorilla Grodd. Meanwhile, if you’re lucky enough to find the Flash’s lightning bolt-symbol while you’re playing, you’ll be able to multiply your winnings.

Yes, there are already a lot of many superhero-themed spin-offs, games and merchandise going around, but it’s down to each fan to figure out which ones suit their preferences. For those who enjoy playing casino games, the trend of superhero-themed online slots is exciting, because they have one more chance to team up with their favourite characters in a game.
