The last issue had a nice turn of events with V. Ram as the writer.
The story was very different than I was used to on this title and I quite enjoyed it. This issue picks up where we left off and I have to say that I quite enjoyed this issue as well. It’s a nice new direction and I really enjoyed the thinking behind this issue.
After the events of the last issue, Selina finds herself looking at a mirror and checking her wounds. Selina is starting to feel cornered by everyone around her.
On top of that, Lex Luthor has made Selina his offer. What is Selina going to do? Well, she does what she does when things start to get rough.
That’s right, she dresses up as Catwoman!
She immediately comes across the villainous Lockup and the two of them have a confrontation. That fight takes up much of the issue.
But I was pretty okay with that!
Andolfo makes the whole thing a complete pleasure. The fight scenes are clear and clean and the storytelling is fantastic. I enjoy the way the page is laid out and the figure work is great too. I really think that this creative team just melded together perfectly on this.
This all leads to a fateful dinner scene that is the climax of the book. I enjoyed this very much. I also enjoyed the nod that they made to Batman: Year One. It’s perfectly handled.
All in all, this is a nice change of pace for this title. They really took the character and put her into a nice and entertaining story. It’s not overly complicated and it’s just enjoyable. What more can you ask from a comic book than that?
