The new DCeased book has been such a big hit for DC that it’s a real no brainer that they would want more content produced.
At least this one has one hell of a creative team on it. The story is interesting throughout and it just adds to the fun already in progress.
The opening part of the book has Mister Miracle and Big Barda talking about how Darkseid has been taken over by the zombie invasion. It’s a fun concept that keeps getting more and more fun as it goes along.
They say that, “God is Dead” and they go down a Boom Tube. Then the two of them go and start to gather some troops.
We then cut to earth where we see Captain Boomerang being studied by Mr. Terrific. There is a zombie swarm coming. Mr. Terrific gets the hell out of there.
He goes and finds Mister Miracle and Barda and the three of them try to come up with some sort of game plan.
They then recruit Blue Beetle and Booster Gold. They all start to realize that it indeed the end of the world. They eventually recruit John Constantine after a really intense scene. Constantine is well handled here and the scene in question is one of the most tense scenes of the year.
The art by Darick Robertson really intensifies things here as well.
Things go nuts from here. And it’s definitely delightfully nuts. The gang come up with a plan to alter time to stop the plague. They get into a fight and eventually murder Waverider. Things get even more crazy from there. There is a great cliffhanger and then we are left waiting for the next issue to hit.
This is just pure fun. It doesn’t get any deeper than that. The story is a good time and the art is perfect for it. I’m enjoying this very much and it’s a cool world Taylor is making. I hope he keeps going with it for many more stories to come.
