This has been a fun series thus far! While I do miss the artwork by Nick Derington, I am enjoying the look of this book. It’s been a nice story too and it just has a feel that is all it’s own. It’s definitely a breath of fresh air from the usual superhero fare!
This issue starts with a bit of a different direction. It says that the stoDoom Patrol: The Weight of the Worlds #3 ry originally appeared in Doom Patrol #172, published in March 2031. Its an inventive take on the comic and I quite enjoyed it. And it only gets more fun.
We get to see the remaining team members along with some new ones. The creative team has injected us twelve years in the future. They reference stories that haven’t happened yet. They reference changes that haven’t occurred.
And then we get to see what Robotman looks like in this future. And I have to say that it’s quite an enjoyable read.
The creative team really do just toss out any expectations that you have right out the window. The Doom Patrol is now a detective agency as well.
Someone is killing all of the robot cops! The Doom Patrol then has to try to track down who it is that has done this.
There is also a strange secret going on in the city that they are in called Goliath. Can they uncover what it is? And is it really the future? Just what is going on in this issue anyway?
It’s a strange issue for sure but the creative team has a great handle on things. The ending really does explain everything and it’s really cool where we end up. The art by Shaner is good too and really completes the package perfectly. This is another fine issue in a good series!
