Stream On: New to Netflix for October 2019

The world’s most popular streaming service is getting ready for October will an equal amount of chills and thrills as Netflix doubles down on scary specials, as well as event programming with the return of Breaking Bad, as well as a handful of returning favorites.

Ever wonder what would happen if Charlie Brooker took over Goosebumps? Netflix original eerie series of kiddies Creeped Out returns for a second season on Oct. 4.

Also that day, the terrifying father-son team of Stephen King and Joe Hill offer their own Halloween offering with In the Tall Grass. This thriller follows a set of siblings who venture into a field on a rescue mission on to be the ones who require rescuing. Think Children of the Corn, sans the corn, religion, and Linda Hamilton.

Need some real scares? Honey 2 is also available for streaming starting on Oct. 1.

Thrills and chills are not the only treats served up by Netflix this month. On Oct. 4, Big Mouth returns to streaming with all of the horrors of puberty on display for our entertainment. Awkward teen relationships, french kisses, body hair, and acne have never been so terrifying.

Adding to the superhero genre, Raising Don follows the story of a young mother struggling to raise her unusual son as he begins to manifest super powers. The new sci-fi series starts on Oct. 4.

Cardi B, Chance the Rapper, and Tip “T.I.” Harris team up for a new reality series about the hunt for the next big hip-hop star in the series Rhythm + Flow. The search begins on Oct. 9.

Oct. 11 will set the scene for the Netflix event of El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. As Walt, Jessie, and series creator Vince Gilligan reunite to offer a new story in the adventures of Walt and Jessie.

Also that day, the wildly controversial Insatiable returns with its quirky questionable taste in season two. Pro-tip: Probably best to just watch El Camino again.

On Oct. 18, Netflix uses all of its magic powers to lure in the creme de la creme, Steven Soderbegh directs The Laundomat, starring Meryl Streep, Gary Oldman, and Antonio Banderas. The story follows a widow investigating insurance fraud of two lawyers.

And finally, on Oct. 25, Eddie Murphy revs up his comeback into full gear with Dolemite Is My Name, a deep dive into Blaxploitation superstar Rudy Ray Moore.
