For a title that I thought could be pretty silly, this actually turned out to be pretty good.
Matt Fraction keeps the stories moving at an interesting pace and I really enjoy the way this is going. It has been fun, highly charged and just the right amount of irreverent.
The issue starts with Jimmy showing Lois Lane a video clip that he has made.
It shows Jimmy as “Timmy” who is an online blogger who is getting a lot of attention. Timmy is an alter ego of Jimmy who is a fast talking pest running around Gotham.
Since Jimmy is presumed dead, Timmy is out there. And boy is he a lot to handle.
There are some funny moments that come out of this.(the moment Timmy sees Bruce Wayne and gives away his Batman identity is a hoot.) We then see Jimmy getting arrested. It’s a fairly amusing vignette that makes the story even funnier and deeper.
The rest of the issue is Jimmy asking Lois to help him out and basically get his life back to something more balanced. We get to see two other encounters that Jimmy has. One is with Detective Dave Diamond. The other one is with Lex Luthor himself. Both scenes are highly amusing.
The issue ends on a funny note. Fraction and Lieber really have done a great job here. Lieber in particular is an underused artist who shines in this series. It is very funny and very goofy at times but it is also highly enjoyable. I look forward to where they take us next!
