‘Nightwing #67’ (review)

Written by Dan Jurgens
Art by Ronan Cliquet
Published by DC Comics

You have got to hand it to writer Dan Jurgens. He has taken a story that threatened to be completely lame and he turned it into something great.

Although I can’t stand the needless character name switch to  “Ric,” it is all changing soon (back to Dick Grayson). Jurgens is making the interim until then fantastically entertaining.

The opening sequence is a hell of a fight between the Nightwing Squad and Talon.

Talon pretty much beats the hell out of them. It is a fairly brutal scene as the Nightwing Squad basically all take a horrible beating.

There is a little bit of a twist: The Talon is now Ric Grayson, possessed with the power of the Court of the Owls! Things get truly crazy!

Condor Red is flying through the air with the Luthor Signal for Doom hanging in the background.  He goes and he attacks Talon!

He moves Talon away from the Nightwing Squad. Talon and Red Condor then have a fight.

The fight is pretty intense. They two of them beat the hell out of each other. It looks like the Talon is going to win! There is an intense moment! Then, there is the small twist! And then, the issue ends.

It does end on a high note. But I have to say it: This issue is too quick. I read it in like five minutes. It is pretty good but it is so short, you do feel a little gypped. What’s there is good, but it feels almost too short for my liking.

RATING: B+
