‘Batgirl #42’ (review)

Written by Cecil Castellucci
Art by Carmine Di Giandomenico
Published by DC Comics

Cecil Castellucci taking over the writing duties on this title has been completely amazing.

She had created a story where Batgirl has to contend with a rogue Oracle program. It is a fast paced and exciting story that does not let up. I have been on the edge of my seat with every issue thus far!

The issue starts off fast and furiously with Batgirl trying to gather more information to try and stop this Oracle.

She is trying to be smart and to have all of her ducks in a row. The art shows the adrenaline in Barbara as she goes from place to place and how frantic she feels.

We then get to see the Oracle also formulating her plan. She is dangerous and deadly and is going to tear up Burnside to get her way.

Batgirl and the Oracle are on a clear path towards each other and a final confrontation is on it’s way!

So, the two of them face off!

The Oracle isn’t opposed to taking some hostages and using them against Batgirl. The fight starts off intense and brutal but eventually fizzles out a little bit. It is still very entertaining but it falls a little bit short, especially for a final confrontation of a story like this.

It is still the best Batgirl story that we have gotten in quite awhile. And Carmine Di Giandomenico gives us some amazing artwork here.

I can’t wait to see where they take us next which is a really great feeling, especially on this title.

RATING: B+
