This book has been a fun adventure thus far.
Writer Sam Humphries and artist Joe Quinones have created one heck of an entertaining comic. The scripts are fun and the art is quirky. This penultimate issue is a real hoot from the very first pages and peters out a bit toward the end.
The search for the H Dial has taken Miguel and Summer to the one place you never want to end up: Apokolips!
The book starts out with a kind of goofy, cartoony style. It shows off the fight that is happening on the planet in a fun and silly way.
This section of the book is cute but it eventually got to be a little much.
We get to see Summer have a conversation in the Heroverse. She has a clear cut goal and she is trying to attain it. She then adopts a super hero identity and has to go join the fight.
And that is when things get a little but crazy.
A little bit too crazy, actually. The K Dial explodes. There is a big rupture in all of reality. Existence as we know it is threatened! Or, something like that. So many things happen in this issue and it is done in so many styles. The cohesion of it all feels lacking.
Hopefully all of this can be cleared up in the last issue of this series. There are a lot of good elements but they got a little lost buried under so much nonsense. Let us hope that it all comes together in the last issue.
