“You have no idea what I’ve become. And now you will die because of it. Goodbye brother.”
If you’ve been following this series, this is a tremendously satisfying issue.
There’s a lot on the board, and a lot of mistakes that have been made.
None of the team is exempt.
But now that it’s been revealed that the identity of The Other is Damian Wayne’s clone, Heretic, who has some interesting ideas about the legacy he wants to leave behind for his brother, Robin, is faced with a choice that just might become the biggest mistake of them all.
The Other even sweetens the pot, by claiming he has the power to save Djinn from the prison within her ring.
It’s all Damian Wayne has ever wanted, and all he has to do is say yes, join his brother and assume the dark mantle of The Other, a mantle that will define him forevermore.
Thankfully Damian has the presence of mind to ask for proof. And so, we are transported with him to the inner world of Djinn’s secret shame, and a heart-to-heart that gives Damian everything he needs to confirm that he’s on the verge of having everything he’s ever yearned for.
Which may not be such a good thing for The Other after all.
With so much that has gone wrong, so many wrong choices, questionable decisions, and so much betrayal between them, it would be easy to imagine that everything is about to come to a screeching halt for our current crop of Teen Titans.
But with a little luck, a little grace, one (or two) well-timed rescue attempts, and the clarity that comes from facing yourself, no matter what you’ll find there, this crew may just find that they have what it takes after all to be a super-team worthy of the name.
And maybe, just maybe, if they can come together despite everything that seeks to tear them apart… maybe together they’ll be able to pull Djinn from an endless purgatory of imprisonment and guilt.
Even if they have to risk everything all over again to do it.
Next Issue: Finally! Djinn War! And the devil we don’t yet know.
