‘The Flash #86’ (review)

Written by Joshua Williamson
Art by Rafa Sandoval
Published by DC Comics

Man, Joshua Williamson has been killing it with the writing on this title. Every issue has been even more exciting and thrilling than the last!

The Flash has been desperately fighting against Captain Cold and his gang and it is leading to one hell of a final confrontation!

The opening pages have Barry and his crew “leveling up” to go up against Captain Cold. The artwork in these pages are really fantastic and give the book the right amount of energy. Rafa Sandoval is an excellent artist and he does a great job of making this exciting.

That is when Barry and Captain Cold fight! It is a hell of battle, too.

Barry then seems to be running away from Captain Cold. Is he a coward?

Maybe Barry has accepted that this is a battle that he cannot win?

Nope. Barry is getting himself some backup.

We get a beautiful splash page here because of that. The fight continues. The Flash and his gang get the upper hand! Captain Cold is screaming that the Flash always wins! He then violently attacks Barry. And that is when the unthinkable happens.

Barry seemingly almost kills Captain Cold. He has lost control of the Speed Force.

At the end of the issue, he is begging to be locked up. What will happen next? Where is this all going? I have no idea but I am excited to find out!

RATING: A-
