“The Justice League isn’t here.”
“They’re on a mission. Start over. Tell us everything.”
“Like… who is Young Justice?”
Well that’s what you get for running off half-cocked Superboy.
Now you’re stuck on Skartaris… though with at least enough good fortune to emerge from Dr. Glory’s dimensional rift just where DC’s otherworldly warrior Warlord happens to be.
Meanwhile, Dr. Glory has pulled S.T.A.R. labs from the scene of the crime, leaving the rest of Young Justice feeling bamboozled, unable to locate their friend Conner Kent, and overall just a little over their heads.
What’s a team to do?
Call on the Justice League of course.
Unfortunately, the League is away on a mission, somewhere across the universe. And that means welcoming committee duties fall to the Justice League’s newest Hall of Justice interns… that’s right, you guessed it – the one and only Wonder Twins.
Which would be great, and eventually is, except that first the twins put the newbies through a vetting process that appears to be quite a bit more extensive than anything Dr. Glory ever had to go through herself apparently…
Eventually, the kids realize they’re on their own, the twins step up to help our merry band to deal with the crisis, Bart returns from an impromptu dash to Portland to do that voodoo he does so well, and they all turn their attention to the unstable dimensional rift that’s opened up above Naomi’s home in Port Oswego.
And find that things are even more unstable than they thought. Uh-oh.
Along with just one more surprisingly excellent arrival that shows that Brian Bendis has been building up to this moment since the beginning of… Wonder Comics itself.
Which makes for a hell of a lot of fun, even if Jinny’s truck is beginning to get a little cramped.
There’s not a great deal of action this issue – that’ll happen next month probably – but at least Bendis has a good time leveling things up for the transition.
And John Timms keeps pace with his excellent artistry as always. Gotta give him credit, he does an excellent Warlord. Pretty good Wonder Twins too.
The takeaway this month: things are finally coming together now in ways we all probably should’ve seen coming.
Now as long as the team can find a way to navigate the Multiverse properly, maybe we’ll finally get some answers. The kind only that only Multiverse can provide.
Next Issue: These puppies don’t come from Kansas.
