‘Red Hood and The Outlaws #43’ (review)

Written by Scott Lobdell
Art by Christopher Williams
Published by DC Comics

Series writer Scott Lobdell really has done an amazing job on this title. It is one of the few books from the DC Rebirth that still has the original writer.

Lobdell really knows how to give his characters some strong scenes and he knows how to keep the action going. It is a consistently good book which doesn’t get as much praise as it really should.

The opening scene comes from the point of view of a woman named Suzie Su.

She owns a place of business with her four sisters. The beginning of the issue finds her dead with a bunch of knives in her. It is a great opening scene and it leaves a lot of questions in the air. I was immediately into this and completely intrigued.

One of the sisters comes in to find her Suzie dead.

She says that this is what happens when you get involved with Jason Todd. What does that mean?

From this, we get to see Jason on top of a train. He is in the middle of a fight. His team is with him. It is a pretty awesome scene.

The team regroups in a train car. They can barely catch their breath however before they are attacked by a strange creature. Another big fight ensues! Eventually, Jason and the gang meet up with Captain Glory. It is a crazy scene.

By the end of the book, a couple of familiar faces answer Ma Gunn’s ad for help. And a villain appears ready to cause some trouble. For the most part, this is an exciting issue. Lobdell has done it again here. Williams is an excellent artist as well and I look forward to seeing more work from him. Well done.

RATING: A-
