‘Detective Comics #1020’ (review)

Written by Peter J. Tomasi
Art by Brad Walker
Published by DC Comics

Peter J. Tomasi and Brad Walker are back together on this book and I am as pleased as punch.

This creative team really rocked on their previous run on this title and this is no exception. They pick up right where they left off as well. This issue is pretty excellent indeed.

The opening four pages of this issue are some of the best four pages that I have seen in a comic book in some time. We get to see Two-Face getting ready to cause some havoc. The pacing is just spectacular here. Walker kills it on the art. It is just an amazing beginning.

I was very excited for this as we have not had a good Two-Face story in quite some time. If anyone could deliver the goods however, Tomasi can. In this issue alone he does that and more.

The story here just completely rocks.

Batman does some investigating on a crime scene.

He finds out that Harvey Dent is involved and that he has been shot twice. We then cut to Two-Face in a walk in emergency room.A doctor tries to help Harvey out. Harvey just shoots the guy. It is a completely harrowing scene as Harvey starts to come unraveled, even more so than he already is.

Batman tries to track Harvey down with not much luck. This leads into the ending of the issue. The last three pages of this issue are just nuts. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Tomasi and Walker are a dream team is this is a pretty fantastic issue overall.

RATING: A
