In an interview with Superhero Fanatic, Diesel confirmed that there are hopes for Bloodshot to take off and spawn future installments and that his film left open plenty of room to introduce other Valiant heroes and villains on the big screen.
“I think what [Bloodshot] does is that it opens the door for all of them,” Diesel said. “I think you’re going to see all of them. I think if you’re a fan of Valiant Comics, then you are going to be delighted to hear—and I think they’re going to wait until the movie comes out—but they’re going to start putting out into the press all of the Valiant comic books that are going into the cinematic universe. It’s going to be very exciting.”
While Diesel clarification that the studio is going to wait to see how this film performs is fair, Bloodshot has a few major hurdles to overcome, as early reviews for the film have done nothing but pan the effort for its lackluster action sequences, poor script from Jeff Wadlow (Fantasy Island) and Oscar-nominee Eric Heisserer (Arrival) and generic story. Additionally, it’s only projected to open to $10 million at the box office, and given its $45 million production budget — with marketing costing more than likely costing double — that is no small hill to overtake.
Created by Kevin VanHook, Don Perlin, and Bob Layton, Bloodshot tells the story of a former soldier, Ray Garrison, killed and brought back to life with technological upgrades thanks to Rising Spirit Technologies, filling his body with billions of nanobots. This allows him to be the perfect soldier by healing from injuries, shapeshifting and even interacting with technology. Ray, aka Bloodshot, suffers total memory loss and struggles to reconnect with who he was while learning what sort of weapon he has become, with the help of a group of other augmented combatants known as Chainsaw.
The film will hit the theaters on March 13, 2020.

Jamie Foxx is Still Attached to the Spawn Reboot
There’s been some WRONG speculation about the movie, but I’m setting the record straight!
— Todd McFarlane (@Todd_McFarlane) March 10, 2020
McFarlane revealed during an interview with Shoryuken an “Academy Award-winning guy” had left the project sparking rumors that person was Foxx, but McFarlane clarified he was actually referring to a writer who had to leave due to conflicting schedules.
During the interview with Shoryuken, McFarlane revealed he’s confident “Hollywood is a different place right now; they understand the value of what Spawn can bring to a reasonable budget.”
McFarlane added he does have a few demands for the movie, however: “I have very few demands for the movie. It has to be rated R, there’s no debate around that. With the story I want to tell, my intent goes back to that Spawn Cloud. I am less concerned about what happens in the movie as long as Spawn is “cool” and “badass”. The last demand is that I am the director. That’s it. Everything else is up for conversation. I just want to show that there are better and smarter ways to entertain an audience than what they are used to. So much more is possible once you open yourself to rated R stories. But I can’t just do a cardboard version, I need the budget to do it. Just enough to make it the right way.”

It’s also worth noting that, with what these characters go through just trying to survive each episode — if anyone deserves to catch their breath before their next mission — it’s Will, Penny, Judy, Maureen, John, Don West, Dr. Smith… and The Robot. And, of course, Debbie the Chicken. So while this chapter of Lost In Space is coming to a rousing conclusion, I’m excited about continuing to explore new stories with my friends at Netflix, and for all of the incredible possibilities that lie ahead.”
