Nicolas Cage (Mandy) has inked a deal to star in a scripted series centered on Joe Exotic, the curious subject of the hit Netflix docuseries Tiger King.
The eight-episode scripted series will be produced by Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios and is planned to be taken to the market this week, with Dan Lagana (American Vandal) set to serve as writer, showrunner and executive producer of the series through his overall deal at CBS Television Studios. Paul Young, who optioned the article with Lagana, is set to executive produce through his banner Make Good Content, while Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Samie Kim Falvey will executive produce alongside Cage through his banner Saturn Films, and Scott Brown and Megan Creydt for Texas Monthly.
The story, based on the Texas Monthly article “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild” by Leif Reigstad, centers on Joe Schreibvogel, aka Joe Exotic, an eccentric zookeeper in Oklahoma who fights to keep his park at the sake of his own sanity and will explore how he became Joe Exotic and lost himself to a character of his own creation.
Rick and Morty x Wendy’s Ad Released
Following Rick and Morty‘s Super Bowl Pringles ad, Adult Swim has released a new video, featuring the titular duo as they star in yet another meta commercial for Wendy’s as they get chased by the new breakfast menu. The The fan-favorite adult animated series will be returning on May 10 with episode 4.07 titled “Promortyus.”

This season the rest of the family, his son-in-law Jerry (Chris Parnell), grand-daughter Summer (Spencer Grammer) and grandson Morty (Justin Roiland) are dragged into Rick’s intergalactic adventures, as he faces new threats and mysteries of his secret past are revealed. Can the family survive Rick’s insanity and all the chaos the universe throws at them?
Taika Waititi is officially set to co-write and direct a new feature for the hit sci-fi adventure franchise. Waititi is set to co-write the screenplay with Academy Award nominee Krysty Wilson Cairns (1917, Last Night in Soho), who received a BAFTA for Outstanding British Film of the Year on the three-time Oscar-winning war epic from Sam Mendes
In addition, Emmy nominee Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) is developing a new series for Disney+ in the universe, for which she will write, executive produce and serve as showrunner. Release dates for both Waititi’s and Headlan’s projects have not yet been announced.
Demolition Man Sequel Is In the Works, According to Sylvester Stallone

In an Instagram Live Q&A with fans, Sylvester Stallone responded to a fan’s question about whether or not we would be getting a “Demo Man sequel,” to which he replied that it’s in the works and that it’s “looking fantastic.”
The original Demolition Man hit theaters in 1993 and starred Stallone as LAPD Sgt. John Spartan as his battle against crime lord Simon Phoenix, portrayed by Wesley Snipes (Blade) in the year 1996 goes too far and lands both men in the California Cryo-Penitentiary, where they are cryogenically frozen and exposed to subliminal rehabilitation techniques. Phoenix escapes in the year 2032 after being thawed for a parole hearing and goes on a murderous crime spree, causing the now peaceful San Angeles Police Department to thaw Spartan to bring him down.
Director James Wan is developing a film adaptation of Hunting Season, based on author Frank M. Robinson’s sci-fi time travel novelette of the same name. Wan will be serving as a producer through his Atomic Monster banner with John Wick scribe Derek Kolstad attached to write the screenplay.
First published in Astounding Science Fiction Magazine in November 1951, Hunting Season will follow the story of a law officer from the future, who is declared as an enemy of the state and sentenced to be executed by being sent to the past and stalked by a posse. He only has three days to get used to the new era while also finding a way to survive. The outlet also notes that the film is being likened to other classic sci-fi films such as 1984, Fahrenheit 451, and The Running Man.
Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse have been signed to write the next G.I. Joe film (not to be confused with the upcoming Snake Eyes solo movie). Shrapnel and Waterhouse’s movie won’t be a direct sequel to Snake Eyes. Instead, it’s being described as “an expansion to take audience goers deeper into the world of Joe.”
Lionsgate has officially confirmed a new release date for the Keanu Reeves-led John Wick fourquel. The film is now scheduled to open on May 27, 2022.
It is currently in direct competition with Warner Bros.’ Dungeons & Dragons, as well as an Untitled Disney Live-Action Film.
John Wick 4 director Chad Stahelski also Reeves was only four weeks into shooting The Matrix 4 when COVID-19 concerns forced a shutdown. Reeves will have to complete his commitment to the Lana Wachowski sequel before moving on to John Wick Chapter 4.
