Well, on the outset, this issue looks like a “filler” story. Once I cracked open the comic, my fears were completely realized. This issue of Catwoman is probably the blandest fill in issue of all time. And it is pretty noticeable.
At the beginning of the issue, we get to see Catwoman in full costume arriving back in the Villa Hermosa. We get to see her slink around for the first few pages and it is as boring as can be. That is when the plot gets going.
An artifact has gone missing and it is priceless. All of the leads are taking Selina to an underground group of sexy maids.
So, Selina decides to track down the artifact.
And guess what? Catwoman and the maids cross paths. It is a pretty dull confrontation too.
The whole thing gets resolved in a pretty standard way. It is super easy to figure out all of the “twists and turns.”
By the end of the book, we aren’t left with much except the promise of a new creative team next issue.
The art by Aneke is the best part by far. If only there was a better story to utilize it. Like I said in the beginning, this is a pretty obvious fill in. I just wish the writer had something better than this.
