‘Red Hood: Outlaw #46’ (review)

Written By Scott Lobdell
Art by Paolo Pantalena
Published by DC Comics

This has been a rather great run.

I am loving where writer Scott Lobdell has taken us these past few years. I also love that the Red Hood, Artemis, and Bizarro are back together again. These characters bounce off each other extremely well and it is a lot of fun to read.

The opening scene takes place years ago.

Artemis is undercover in a hospital. The hospital is being destroyed. Artemis is getting everyone to safety. She manages to do so.

That is when she sees a mysterious axe. She looks at it. Smiles. It looks to be time to jettison this secret identity.

We then cut to the present day.

We get to see Bizarro and Jason in Qurac. They are in the Chamber Of All Or Nothing which is a very strange place. It is actually pretty bananas to be honest but I loved it. Jason says he has been there before.

But then, some truly unexpected things start to happen.

The team comes across the mighty Trigon.

This sends the story on a spin which was pretty damn awesome. The team has to regroup and refocus their efforts into a new direction.

This issue ends on a crazy note and things look like they are going to only get crazier.

I love this title. It is the definition of an underdog comic featuring some underdog characters. Lobdell makes the whole thing work wonderfully and I just love the direction he has taken with this book. I look forward to more!

RATING: B+
